The story of Joseph is one all too familiar to us. God gave Joseph a dream, Joseph saw himself as a leader. Joseph's bothers were envious of him. Therefore they sold him into slavery.
(see Genesis 37:18-28)
Joseph Is Made a Ruler of Egypt
You maybe in a season of darkness just as Joseph found himself in. It may be depression, financial difficulties or sickness. I was in a pit when I was diagnosed with a chronic illness. I have spent months not knowing if I will make it out of the darkness. I thank the Lord Jesus, by His grace I am strengthened to walk this journey out with Him in this season of my life.
In one of my honest moments with the Lord. It was one morning at 2am or 3am. I was awake feeling overwhelmed and imperfect. I prayed: "Lord, please help me", while tears were starting to well up. Snippets of this verse sailed through my mind.

Genesis 41:38-40Amplified Bible (AMP)
38 So Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this [a man equal to Joseph], in whom is the divine spirit [of God]?” 39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since [your] God has shown you all this, there is no one as discerning and clear-headed and wise as you are. 40 You shall have charge over my house, and all my people shall [a]be governed according to your word and pay respect [to you with reverence, submission, and obedience]; only in [matters of] the throne will I be greater than you [in Egypt]."
A young man went from being a slave to ruling a nation. We recognise God's grace on Joseph's life.
"Grace: More than we deserve, greater than we imagine, all we need"

2 Corinthians 12:9-10Amplified Bible (AMP)
9 but He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you [My loving kindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me. 10 So I am well pleased with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, and with difficulties, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak [in human strength], then I am strong [truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God’s strength].
If you are in a dark place, you are not alone. Jesus will meet you right there. He isn't afraid of your situation, even though it might be messy. Trust Him, God has enough grace to redeem you from your circumstances and answer your prayers.
